Hi Bomberomusician,

If I'm interpreting your post correctly, I suspect that your problem arises from the fact that Realtracks cannot be controlled at note level. MIDI, on the other hand, can be. (Andrew's post above refers to using MIDI data.)

Realtracks are recorded phrases of music and when these are used in a BIAB arrangement, the phrases are chopped, shuffled and seamlessly matched with one another to give an accompaniment. It is because RTs are musical phrases that it's not possible to use them to play a note-based melody. (If you go to one of the Realtracks folders and listen to one of the wma files, you'll hear what I mean.)

From what I'm reading in your post, you want to control the Realtracks on a note-by-note basis. The only way that I can see that you might be able to do this is to use a DAW, isolate the notes you want within the musical phrase, edit them and manipulate them with stretching to be the length you want. I'd imagine that while this sounds easy enough in theory, it would be more challenging in practice. The other alternative is to see if it might be possible to use a MIDI-based solution.

Regards,
Noel
