Hello John,
As a veteran on the forums, I would expect you to appreciate the request for a 21th century forum search. If only to let (new) users find out the answers to their questions are already given. There's a wealth of knowledge in these forums, but it is really hard to tap into. The fact that you suggest that we use google to search the forums confirms that.
I myself just started posting here, but I can imagine users with a lot of forum time under their belt getting a bit frustrated now and then by having to answer the same stuff over and over. However, it is my experience in other forums that some people just love to recycle bits of knowledge that they have, for these people, I would understand if they don't see a reason to ask for improvements.
