I would like to see a shadow of the present chord in the best place on the guitar finger board for the particular phrasing.

by Shadow Chord, I mean a grey ( or other colour ) map of the chord - where the fingers are for that chord. ( sort of under the melody notes as they play )

I should make up some sort of picture.
I'll do that.

Your idea of having a ghost image of the hand holding the chord while the melody notes showed over would be excellent!
But maybe it could get in the way of which notes are being held (sometimes hard to see)
