I have a RB file that contains several tracks, including a midi piano track, containing mostly block chords, that I am trying to render to an audio track using the "auto convert individual midi track to audio track" function. The rendered audio track consistently plays only one note (the highest note I believe) for each chord. Can anyone advise, how do I get this to render properly, so that the audio track sounds full chords?
Many thanks for your help on this.

In prefs-midi devices what is selected in the output device column?

Is there a check in the box 'reroute MIDI to DXi synth' box?

What synth is being used in the default DXi synth slot just below?

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Hi rharv and many thanks for your speedy reply. In response to your questions:

In prefs-midi devices what is selected in the output device column? EDIROL UA-25 (my external USB sound card/midi-audio interface)

Is there a check in the box 'reroute MIDI to DXi synth' box? YES

What synth is being used in the default DXi synth slot just below? <VSTi> Super Quartet

Any ideas?

Hi Silvertones,
Thank you, too, for your help. In response to your question, the midi track has an instrument selected and also a midi channel that it is not 0. When played back as a midi track it sounds fine. Please note also, that I usually do not convert individual midi tracks to individual audio tracks. Instead, I usually leave them in the midi format and render the midi and audio tracks together into a stereo wave file, using the FILE=>WAVE FILES=>MERGE AUDIO AND DXI TRACKS TO STEREO WAVE FILE command. However, in this case, when I did so, the 2 midi tracks were rendered at a very low volume (barely audible) relative to their original level in the mix. I thought that converting the midi to audio first would solve this balance problem. At this point. I discovered that the block chords were not being converted in full -- just one note from each chord. There must be a setting somewhere that relates to this, no?

Hi Guys
Just wanted to report that with substantial perseverance I was able to resolve this problem. Unfortunately, I'm not sure exactly what I did... something to do with setup of the VST/DXi synths - somehow the problem was resolved. Hopefully, I won't have to tackle this again soon.
Many thanks for your help.

I use this feature extensively as i play out a couple nights a week with RB and don't want to chance having a mixture of midi & audio so I convert any midi tracks to audio.
Be forewarned that there is a bug that I've reported a number of times but has not been fixed. When you want to convert the first thing you do is RT click the track/select all/Rt click again/ convert.
The bug is that at times you'll see this process happen very quickly and end up with a flat line. Just redue it and you'll see it takes a little longer and then you have a decent waveform.

I'm guessing you changed the MIDI output to something like the GM Synth (even though it is being rerouted to DXi) instead of having the UA selected.

The guys who already posted know a lot more than me about this stuff. I was told to convert each midi track to an audio track. Then after that adjust the mix using just the audio tracks and render to .wav after mixing. So far this has worked for me. FWIW
