I'm not sure I can explain this but here goes: I need an intro bar before starting on bar 1. In other words, I need five bars on the first line, and the second line is bar 5. The repeat would be back to the start of bar 1.

When I insert a bar, it just adds a bar to the entire piece. I want the first bar of the second line to be bar 5, the first bar of the third line to be bar 9, etc.

Hope this explained it and thx.

Right above the chord chart, more or less in the center, are 3 numbers. They default to 1-32-3. Change the first one to "5". That will give you a 4 bar intro that does not repeat. The other 2 numbers are the end of the song and the number of repeats.

You said you wanted the repeat back to bar 1, but I think you meant bar 5?

Thanks. I have done that. I wanted the B in B piece to match the music sheet which looks like this:

two note intro|(Bar 1 where repeat starts) aaba|aaba|aaba|aaba

Bar5 aaba|aaba|aaba|aaba

Bar 9 aaba|aaba|aaba|aaba

continue with four bars per line to bar 32 and repeat to bar 1, after the intro

The first line has five bars

thx for your help and patience

Highlight bar 1, then look under Edit/Insert Bar (it defaults to 1) and click the Okay button. That will insert a bar in front of Bar 1, becoming Bar 1. Now you can do as HogTime suggested and change the first number of the repeat to 2, so when you play the song it will start with a 1 bar intro and the repeats will be back to bar 2. If you want that bar 1 alone on the first line put a part marker at the start of bar 2 and if you have that feature turned on it will move bars 2 to 5 to the second line.

Ok that worked.

Now can I change the numbers on the bars-starting on line two- to 1,5,9,13 instead of 2,6,10,14,etc.

thx again

No, there's no way to re-number the measures.

If you want it as you describe, you enter your two pickup notes during the count-in. In that case, they are always played "NC", with no accompaniment, and they will be in measure 0 -- which is the pickup or "lead-in" measure.

If you do it that way, you have to delete the extra measure you just added. The measures remaining will then be numbered as you seem to want them.

It's really up to you, but normal-looking measure numbering is available no other way.

Ok. sounds like a bottle of white-out and magic marker will solve the problem.

Is it possible to create measure 0 before measure 1 the first line?

Sorry, but I misread your post. Didn't realize you were interested in how things displayed. Fortunately others filled you in.

What I called "Measure Zero" is always there. It was just my made-up name for the count-in measure: 1-2-3-4. You don't have to "create" anything, you just use it to stash some pickup notes, if you want any.

The lead-in measure does not show in the chord sheet at all. It has no chords, ever. Pickup notes entered there will just naturally appear in your notation before measure 1 with no extra effort.
