Hi-
After a fried motherboard, I just upgraded to a new powerhouse machine. In the past I always used an internal soundcard (audigy) for recording but need advice on other modern options -such as an audio interface with built in sound card.
Pg tech support advised me away form M audio Fast Track, and Behringer. They also said was Tascam was good, but it's time for this wonderful FORUM to advise me on what to buy to avoid probelms.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. The forum is a wondetrful thing

M Audio Delta 1010 if you have a PCI slot. None better in my opinion.

No PCI Slots...just PCI Express and the profile of the 1010 is to big for the converter.
So a USDB or Firewire solution will have to do

I have two Apple PCs with Windows 7 64 bit partitions on them.
I have MOTU 2408mkIII (PCI-e) in the desktop, and a MOTU Traveler (Firewire) sometimes added to the 2408 on the desktop, or just alone on the laptop.
They work very well either with the windows as the Mac partitions on both PCs and the good thing is that I can use them even as Control Voltage Trigger with my old Minimoog D.

Thanks Sergino, but $750-$1,000 is too rich for my blood. There has to be a $200 solution someone can recommend

I've used the M-Audio Fast Track Pro, and it's very nice with Windows 7 64-bit. It's USB and is well under $200.
Of the brands you mentioned, I cannot recommend Behringer because of past quality problems, and I cannot recommend Tascam because of their customer service. Did PG Music say why they do not recommend the M-Audio Fast Track?

Matt- Three support people at PG warned me in the last 2 days to stay away from the Fastrack Pro claiming the ASIO does not interface with Real Band. Just got off the phoen with Rob, who said that M -audio just released a brand new Windows 7 64 bit driver that is supposed to help, but no guarantees.
Had you had ASIO recording issues with this, or heard about this issue?

Hi guys,
That driver is actually ok with RealBand, it's just a problem with Band-in-a-Box. So if you're doing your audio recording in RealBand (which I always recommend), this isn't a show-stopper, just annoying.

Well after reaearch it seems the Tascam audio interfaces work well with PG products.
Any hands on experience out there?

Which one? They range from inexpensive up to $1400.
I use the Tascam FW-1884, which is discontinued and no longer supported. My objection to Tascam/Teac is not the equipment - it's great - but the customer service. It took us nearly a year to get a driver for Windows 7 64-bit, and then they announced they would no longer support the unit. It's a long, sad story, filled with many who vow never to buy from Tascam again...
But if PG Music recommends a Tascam interface, that's good enough for me.
