To help make the advantages the Boolean style picker a little clearer, I made this chart that represents what might be the two left columns of the style picker. Here you would click on any item to toggle its selection ON or OFF. The dot to the right of any entry indicates its selection to be ON. In this case the genres - Folk, Jazz Ballads, and Pop/Rock Ballads, and the characteristics - all Midi (no real tracks), swing 4/4, and meter 40-100 bpm are ON. The style picker would show only styles that meet all these criteria. With this power and a good understanding of the styles you can easily cause the style picker list to only your best candidates.
