Peter,

Is this still only relevant to the audiophile version? In case, I have the everything pak and did a find on the .bto and .wma files and got the same number of both. (11415, plus it was very quick so I must make sure my file indexing is turned off!).

Thanks

Steve

Peter, would this be one of those things that might be fixed by running the "Install.." option from the Real Tracks settings dialogue? The hover text says it takes action on old .wav files. Is this type of issue what that refers to? If not, what exactly does that Install option do?
Thanks.

I just checked all the realtracks folders, and found this problem in only one case: Pedal steel EV085 had a time stamp mismatch. However, I also looked at the 2008.5 folder, and the same real track has a time stamp mismatch there too, but it works fine. (time stamp is not the same in both cases, however... in 2008.5 the time stamp is 11/21/07 between 9:04 and 9:07 am, whereas in 2009 the date is still 11/21/07, but the time is 1:03 pm

FWIW, my purchase was NOT the audiophile edition, so whatever has happened is not version-based.

FYI, this error message will occur if there are .bt0 files missing in the RealTracks folder (or present, but with an older time stamp than the WMA or WAV file)

Every WMA file needs a BT0 file with tempo stretching information. If it cannot find it (or if it is dated older than the WMA file) , the program tries to make it. So you could have a look in your RealTracks folder, and see if you are missing some bt0 files.

We can make a patch that has those missing files, but first would like to see if/why this was only reported by 2 people.

Peter, mine does it as well.
Audiophile.
I'd assumed 30 minutes was normal what with all the wavs to deal with.
But the warning keeps flashing though it ends up OK as long as the beats are close.

I noticed today in trying some things that the file names in the error message always contain ".WAV" , but I don't have the audiophile version. Naturally it can't find WAV files if my system has WMA files...

the question is, "why is it looking for WAVs at all?"

Mark,
I copied my real tracks and real drums to drive C with the rest of the program and all the problems went away. I suspect that some PC guardian type of software installed on my computer was interfering with file access through the IO ports

As long as I ran ANY of it from the USB, it took forever

I can't speak for you, but in my case everything I got from PGMusic was OK... the program, the real tracks, even the USB drive. Ultimately the culprit was my own system trying to protect me from myself.

In re-reading the posts, I note that both Mark and Steve bought the Audiophile version which probably would make copying all the files to Drive c:
"space-prohibitive."

In that case, the NEXT thing I'd try is disabling internet access then disable any firewalls, virus protection and or security software.

Or, a dedicated internal drive for BIAB might overcome the obstacle if you don't want your music computer to be offline.

Pat,
As you've said, the use of wav files makes this option no good for me.
I'm interested in your point about Antivirus software... I use Norton 360 and suspect that i may be a little too enthusiastic in controlling my environment.
It's all a bit 'techie' for me... Would I be better off with another AV package?
Regards
Mark

Note: This only applies to Vista, and only when User Account Control (UAC) is enabled.

Yes, the problem is due to Windows Vista, and its Account Control (UAC) feature.

Vista Security seems to go into full paranoia mode with a program 'daring to run' from a USB drive, without explicit permission from the user and Vista. Sheesh.

_____________________________________

If you are having trouble running the programs from the USB hard disk, you may need to do one of the following.

1. Turn User Account Control (UAC) off. To do this, go to Control Panel | User Accounts, and click on the item "Turn User Account on or off"... You will need to restart the computer.

- or -

2. Installing the program to the hard drive (leaving the RealTracks on the USB Hard drive).

Once you disable UAC, the program runs great.

Have Fun!

Just to confirm that this has solved the problem for me. I don't know what UAC is for but I wish it hadn't been invented!
Thanks very much to everyone who has helped to solve this problem.
Now I can get back to the serious business of playing music.

I am having this problem, also. Using Version 2009 (279), Everything Pak, as shipped on external HD. Not only LOADING the song, but every time I change anything about the arrangement (i.e., add an extra measure). BIAB goes through the entire song, bar by bar, generating a yellow or blue error pop-ups. For 49 measures, this took just under 7 minutes for me. (Bonus question -- is there a way to abort this process? It just hangs up the entire program till it's finished. Sooo frustrating!)

For what it's worth, the folder is Rhythm Syncopated Sugar Ev 102, all wma and bt0 have same date and name, and are matched in number.

Thanks in advance

Hello tricia,

You should:
1. Install build 282: http://www.pgmusic.com/support_windowsupdates.htm#282
2. Disable User Account Control. If you don't want to do that, then you may need to install the Band-in-a-Box and RealBand programs onto your C: drive to get around the security restrictions (You can keep the RealTracks/RealDrums on the external drive though - that is, the \bb\RealTracks and \bb\Drums folders can stay on the USB hard drive)
