I'm sorry if this post is out of line, but I couldn't find a more appropriate area to post it in. I am hoping that there are a few opinions out there that could help me determine if BIAB is suited for my intended use. I am a worship leader at a smallish church that has a good worship band, but the members are not always available. For the weeks that I do not have either a keyboard or guitar player, I am thinking about utilizing BIAB to create backing/accompaniment tracks. I am anticipating purchasing the 2011 EverythingPAK. I have spent time listening to the user demos as well as the promo videos and am very intrigued by the RT technology. My main concern is that, I am afraid that if I create tracks for the approximately 120 songs in our repertoire, that many will end up sounding very similar. I am not really sure how these RT tracks are generated. Given a chord progression and style selection, will BIAB generate the same RT track, or will there be some variability in the output? Phrased in a different way: is there an intelligent randomness to the RT accompaniment that is generated, or does it follow the same algorithm each time to produce the exact same results?

Is there anyone else out there utilizing BIAB for a similar use? IF so, how has it worked for you and do you have any other wisdom to aid me in my decision.

Thank you for your help,
ChrisCarlson

Many here use BiaB for similar purposes. Not only does BiaB generate a variety of tracks, every time you hit play you will get a new variation. If one really strikes your fancy, you 'freeze' it and it will stay that way.

By picking different 'styles' for various songs you will get different tracks too.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

If you look at the variety of music on this planet and think about the fact that there are only 12 notes to use it's pretty amazing the diversity that can be had.A song is made up of so many different factors that i doubt you'd find your stuff sounding the same. As good as your band sounds I bet they have some sort of cohesive "sound".I think you'll be very pleased.I am. I play out 2 nights a week and get very good comments at the authenticity.Takes a little work though.

Thanks Silvertones and rharv,

One thing that I appreciate about this software is that it seems that there is a good bunch of people hanging out in the forums. It always speaks well for the company, if the people that use their software are passionate about it.

Another welcome to the forum Chris, thought I'd add my 2 cents to the good responses above as follows:

Regarding songs sounding alike, I think if it weren’t for the melody and phrasing styles of singers that statement would be true in almost everything we hear today. For instance I find myself many times listening to a song on the radio, blanking out the melody and sing one from another song in it's place and it fits very well. But that is because the tempo, chord changes and style are also very similar. The thing with BIAB is not only that there are so many styles already packaged and ready to go, but also with the style maker the possible variations are extended even more. Currently my playlist is well over 500 songs spanning many genres and I am doing 75 or so gigs per year and with the exception of getting a 50's gig playing a lot of do-wop four chord progressions I never even think about the songs sounding similar.

Good news is that PG Music offers a no nonsense 30-day money back trial offer. But my bet is that you will be keeping and more importantly using the product long after the trial period.

Take Care,
