Hi All,

I'm trying to learn the song "Hideaway" as played by Clapton on Johm Mayalls Bluesbreakers "Beano" album. I'm not that good (!) but I've got hold of a reasonable version of the guitar from Guitar Pro which I'm learning from.

I'd like to have a BIAB backing track to destroy it against!! If anyone can suggest a file which would "fit" I'd be very greatful.

I tried using the chord wizard but the result sounded more like the backing for "Crossroads"...which may be close'ish but not for a professional like me.....!!

Also..just to prove I am the weakest guitar wizard can anyone tell me what key "Hideaway" is in? Chord wizard gave it (with help from me!) the key of E but I think (!) it might be B'ish'ish !!! Thank you.

Very cool. One of my favorites. Unfortunately I have not created a track for that one either. Would be a cool project. Maybe we could collaborate.

The song is in E.
Freddie played a lot of it in first position, but Eric did not :-)

Good luck,
Dave

Yes, it is in 'E'. Great tune, one of the best blues instrumentals of all time in my opinion.

You won't be able to get it exact in BIAB, but you should be able to find something with a close enough feel, just key in the chords, set the tempo, and start auditioning styles. Hardest part might be that changeup in the middle where it does the double time thing.

Anyway, an interesting project! If you guys do something with it I would love to hear the results

Hi Dave(s),

Have the 3 kings been replaced by the 3 Daves?!!

Thanks for the info on the key of the song and I believe you..however I've used the chord wizard on it twice now and it keeps giving it the key of A? It's probably user error!!! Anyway I changed the key to E and as a first attempt used the Clapton1 style - rock blues..it's got the right sort of feel but....?

Dave G, I'd be very happy to collaberate as long as you realise I will be very much the junior partner! I'm pretty well brand new to BIAB, haven't even tried to use Realband yet and my quitar ability is probably very enthusiastic lower intermediate!! Very keen to "learn" to transcribe by ear - lower beginner level!

On the up side as I said I've got (what I think) is reasonable tab/notation for the guitar (and bass) from Guitar Pro. I'd be happy to get a copy to you if it would help?

Anyway, let me know what you think. Best wishes.

Cheers Guys,

Dave !

If you get too frustrated building one in BIAB there are some freebies on't tinternet. I easily found an Eric Clapton one, although the organ sounds too loud on it to my ears, and a much better Freddie King one with far better 'raw' feel. Here are the pages I found:
Eric Clapton - Hideaway backing track
Freddie King - Hideaway backing track
I've also got two corkers for the EC version on a Guitarist magazine cover CD and a Total Guitar one. These also have added tips, etc. Let me know if you'd like them and I could send you a copy CD with the various tracks on.

Hi john,

Thanks for the backing track links - I agree the Freddie King is probably more like what I wanted. Trouble is now I have a backing track the ball is in my court to do some guitar work!!! Strangley enough I used the BIAB chord wizard on it and it also comes up in the key of A ?

It's very kind of you to offer to let me have a copy of the CDs...if it's OK I'll send my contact details via a private e-mail....don't want my fans knowing where I live!!

Regards,

Dave

Dave G - Still happy to try and make my own version of a backing track for this if you wish...now I have something to compare it with and I'd like to be more competent with BIAB etc.

Cheers,

Dave
