All very good points above. Like many of you in the "old days" I used to use contracts all the time, but now it seems they are not even thought about when booking gigs with local establishments and companies. I always tell my "pending boss" especially, if it is a local establishment or private company that our best contract is that you know where I live, and I know where you live. With this said neither of us want any unfavorable talk about us going on around town, and with the internet it could be even more damaging. So my bet is that we will treat each other with respect and live up to our joint commitments. Now if ever the price of music goes up beyond that trust level, and there is a point where it does,ink will hit paper once again.

Edited portion: I do have a couple of accounts that are known late payers, sometime even short payers. With these accounts I let them know in no uncertain terms I get paid before the equipment comes out of my trailer.
