JPF is a set of forums for country music related information. Each one of the sub forum from general interest on to songwriters and others have different interest. Just go to the different sub groups and see what people are talking about, see if this is a site that you might like. I checked the link and it works fine. If you are having problems Google "Just Plain Folks" forums

I doubt very much if you'll get a record company to take any heed. Normally it takes a lot of hard graft and years of gigging. My advice would be get out there and give freebies away to local radio stations in your area. Community radio, special license broadcasting stations, hospital radio etc.... Many of those stations rely on artists donating material to them to survive. Try to find out who your local agents are and go see them. Don't expect anything to happen overnight. It won't guarenteed !!
Usually they'll only do deals if you've had numerous TV & radio appearances. However, prove me wrong and I'll eat humble pie for the rest of my natural !

PS, Didn't mean to sound too negative and put you off the idea Daniel, but it's a dog eat dog world in the music industry. Quite often it's those with NO DAMNDED talent who get the breaks and those of who HAVE it struggle for years to earn a crust !

is it even remotely possible for an extremely talented but ugly or average-looker to make it big in music today? today's artists all look like top-of-the-line fashion models to me.

Don,

In most circumstances, that's true.

Zac Brown is an ugly feller, and he ain't doin too bad. Janis Joplin wasn't much to look at either.

No way, Janis was hot . I dated a gal who was her look-alike. One of my first loves!

i thought she (janis) was fabulous. i wonder how many of the 'old school' artists would make it today with the advent of youtube and music videos. i fell in love with emylou harris' voice before i ever saw her. her teeth were bad and very crooked until she had a total make-over. jim croce had very obvious rotten teeth even on his album jackets. perhaps we were not so looks-conscious in days of yore.

Very true. How else can you explain the success of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jim Croce, Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, etc. Their music was what mattered.

Even Elvis would have been at least moderately successful if he had looked like the average Joe. Especially after Forest Gump taught him to dance.
