I am using the audio chord wizard, generally with good results.

I have run into 2 bugs when adding realdrum tracks to an existing audio track.

I have found that if I generate an entire realdrum track, it works great. The tempo map is followed, and the drums line up very nicely (assuming I have done a good job with the bar markers in the wizard).

However, if I try to regenerate a portion of a realdrum track, I find a bug where blank spaces are left between the new drum parts and the existing (non-highlighted) parts. The only workaround I have found is to re-generate all the drum parts after the new pasted in section.

As an attempt to work around this, I created a new track and then asked realband to generate a realdrum track for just the few bars that I want to replace. The problem I find here is that the new bars do not seem to obey the tempo map. By the end of 8 bars or so, they are way out of whack. My only successful workaround for this is to generate an entire new realdrum track so I can grab the few bars that I want in this new drum style.

Are my assumptions that this should work the way I want it to correct?

thanks!

Dave

See if 'smooth audio cuts' is enabled in the Edit-Cut window.

Dave,

This was a bug with the initial release of RB 2011. I was experiencing the same problem when I first installed 2011, but PG music released a new build with some bug fixes, including this one. Go to their website and download and install the latest builds for both Realband and BIAB. This should resolve the problem.

Terry,

Thanks for the pointer, however I am running the latest RB2011 (version 4).
The realdrums do follow the tempo map when I generate an entire track. It just seems to be broken if I select a small range of bars. (maybe some of the bug got fixed and not the whole problem...)

With these programs there are 4 things to keep updated and they are all separate:
1. BIAB
2. Real Band
3. Real Drums
4. Real Tracks
Make sure you have the latest in all of them.

Dave,

It seems to me the problem was fixed for me, even when generating only some bars, but when I have a chance I will test this out further.

Not necessarily saying it's 100% fixed yet, but John makes a good point. Because RB and BIAB are so closely intertwined, it is important that you also have the latest release of BIAB installed.

I'll get back to you after I've tested some more here.

You're right Dave, this is not yet fixed, and it is not just limited to realdrums. I tried it tonight on both realdrums and a realguitar track. When putting in tempo changes and regenerating all tracks, all tracks follow the tempo changes. However if just regenerating a portion of a track, two things happen; 1) the regeneration does not put the tempo changes in the right places and 2) blank spaces are inserted in the track where there is no sound at all.

To you veterans out there, how do we best point this out to tech support?

Terry

Thanks Terry! Glad to know that I'm not going nuts :-)

I am up to date with all of the components as well (realband, biab, and the realtracks updates). I'm still getting the hang of adding realtracks to audio files that I have run through the automatic chord wizard, so there's always a chance of some cockpit errors, but this one felt like a bug :-)

thanks again,

Dave
