In the metronome options you can turn the count-in off in RB.

I notice that RBv2010.5 : on RealDrum tracks, there is still a count in. It seems to be embeded into the audio of the RealDrums. I tried re-generating the RealDrums track after turning the count-in option off (as you suggested above), but there was still a count-in click.

I think in BIAB - if you turn on the "Silent Count In" - then RealDrums track has count-in click.

Not sure if this is a bug, or if I'm missing something, or it's in the latest version, but RealBand needs a Global Settings (for all songs) to start the songs with a silent count in (no click) - for live use.

thanks,

A SOLO button on each track.
When you move the scroll bar the track moves with it, not just when you let go.
When you click on the end of the scroll bar and drag it will ZOOM in or out.

scrollwheel works well for this in other apps.

You can buy the 'project bundle' of Tracktion for $14.99 at Musician's Friend right now - to have a tangible example you can test drive, to see how this works. This doesn't have all of the bells and whistle add-ons that the Ultimate Bundle had for $19.99 just a month ago - but for functionality purposes, I think there's lot's of screen layout and GUI functionality that I would love to see in PG products that you could crib directly from Tracktion. Not everything - there's alot there that confuses folks, but for how the GUI works, I think it's a pretty slick program. It made me jump from PTPA years ago because of VST/VSTi and ASIO support. I ended up falling in love with the workflow.

One simple example - graphical knobs just don't work well with a mouse-based context. The FX knobs above are an artifact of mixer hardware thinking, not from thinking about what the best way is to translate mouse movement into a sensible GUI. Sliders mimic mouse slides, not knobs.

Apple have done an outstanding job re-inventing touchscreen gestures with sensible manipulation of GUI data on the iPhone and now the iPad.

Tracktion was refreshing in that the layout was optimized for computer based recording without thinking about a hardware context as the overlay. Some of that kind of thinking IS in PG products, but there's much work to be done. The bars window is a great example of something that doesn't come from a hardware context but makes perfect sense to users.

You can do the same with effects routing, volume and pan sliders, effects send/returns, etc. It doesn't have to look like a mixer.

Notation Options:

Include a checkbox that would allows the display of overlapping notes. Currently the display of the lenghts of notes is chopped whenever another note comes along. E.g. a whole note on beat one gets displayed as a half note whenever a note happens to sit on beat three, say.

On the solo issue the idea of a dedicated Solo button is interesting, but once you get comfortable with tehcurrent setup I think it is easier. You just click the track to highlight it and then hit solo, if you want to chage tracks to solo another just click the number on that track, one click and you can go from one solo-ed track to another. Hold down shift and add to it to hear more than one. Realy the same thing if you think about it.

No you don't it is a pain ! when you have say 3 tracks on solo then you play a section then move your cursor back to play from another position or highlighted area it cancels the selected tracks to the one track where you click.
Especially on large or dual monitors where the mixer is on the other screen, every other Pro DAW has it on the tracks.
I know people who get comfortable walking on one leg.

I see both sides here, as un-soloing multiple tracks can also be a pain.
If you don't click inside the track, and instead click on the timeline at the top of the tracks window they will remain highlited and you can move around to different sections of the song.

Interesting to consider both. I could go either way I suppose.

Since they have a mute button i guess a solo button would be more intiative, but the current way works IF, you know all the features. Like as Rharv said click on the time line. I do not know all the features, yet!

Every DAW does it a bit different, getting very familiar with your is the key.

The current way works it IS possible to solo tracks, but i just thought they were asking for "Some "EASY" feature suggestions "
like if i solo a track then go to the chord window and highlight the bars i want to hear then click loop
all tracks play so i have to get the track window up and select the track again to hear the solo
and then use the Ctrl key to select another, then go back to the chord window select another area to loop
and so on.
I could be wrong but i think that is why we went from DOS to Windows "To Make Things EASY"

See, I hadn't thought about the other windows! It's good to discuss it.

I still see the steps to 'unsolo' everything being tedious where now it is one click, then you can click it all on again in one click. Hmm, maybe the master solo/unsolo stays so any solo'd tracks can be turned on/off in a single click. It would automatically become enabled when any track(s) are solo'd and then it could turn it all off/on after that in one click.
I know I like to solo stuff and then compare it in the mix ... then maybe solo again.
I guess we all use it differently in subtle ways. Just tossing ideas out.

Most of the time you solo 1 to a few tracks, you don't 'unsolo' everything,
you would just mute the tracks you don't want to hear.

Although i don't want RB to be "just like all the other DAWs" I do think there is a certain standard that has evolved over the years for most DAWs of this type. It should basically follow the convention of a pro HW console.Just like cars. They are all different and have different features however they follow a basic convention so we don't have to learn how to drive all over again each time we get into a different vehicle. Imaging what it would be like if the pedals were reversed or if the brake had to be hand activated on one vehicle.Basic conformity different features.

Some "easy" fixes in RealBand:

1) Sometimes it's hard to tell if a button is on or off. Change it so that it's more obvious what the status of a button is. I'm thinking particularly of the Snap, Solo and Lock buttons, but it should apply to any button status. Right now the buttons change from white to about 5% grey. I needs to be more obvious.

2) In the Mixer window, it should be obvious if an effect or effects is present under the FX button. Maybe have the FX button change color (again, a very obvious change) if effects are present.

3) In the Track view, the tracks will scroll if you use the left and right arrows, but it will not scroll if you drag the bar. I would be helpful if sliding the bar would also make the tracks scroll

4) Piano Roll horizontal zooming should stay centered around Now Time.

If when using the JukeBox and you have a request I'd like any easy way to just play a song that was requested and then go back to the Juke Box.
