Try right-clicking where you see the waveform in the Tracks window, and then click 'Select Whole Track' and see if the whole track highlites.

Then click 'Play Selected Area' at the top of the Tracks window.
Only thing I can think of to start testing. Could be the file is corrupt; does that file play in other players like WinMediaPlayer?
Do other wav files import and play OK?
