I'm using BIAB 2004c. When I render a file using DXi- Direct Render, the count-in is not rendered. The count-in plays back fine however as a MIDI file. I've checked my settings under Options->Preferences->Count-in/Met and I have the following checked:
Allow Lead-in bars
Play lead-in even if intro present
Audible lead-in Volume 64
Instrument side stick (37)
Pattern 1-3-1234
Smart lead-in
Lead-in drum count if drums muted/disabled
Metronome Options:
No visible metronome, size 200
Audible metronome during record
In the past, I've rendered the count-in with VSC3 but my VSC3 is not working at all right now for some reason.
Is there something else I should be checking w.r.t the DXi synth maybe? Thanks for any help.

What is the DXi synth being used then?
That's a pretty old version, hard to remember what that had/didn't have for options.
Tell us what is selected in the synth options (midi devices etc) and what options are available.
I'm pretty sure the 'Lead-in drum count if drums muted/disabled' and those options are for session use, in other words when you record it automatically gives the lead count in before playing, but this is not part of the actual saved song that gets rendered.
Quick dirty fix is to insert the four clicks into the beginning manually as MIDI events so they are part of the song file itself. A simple sidestick (Db3) inserted on 1-2-3-4 and on channel 10 would likely do it.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Another case of operator error! I simply forgot to check "Include 2-bar lead-in" in the "Render to Audio File" dialogue...doh!!!!!
One more question that you may be able to answer: What are the RealTime Audio Plugins used for....recording from a MIDI instrument maybe?
I ask only because when I select from the main menu, Audio->RealTime DX Audio Settings, a DirectX Plugins dialogue opens. It tells me I must check "Use RealTime Audio Plugins". When I try to check the "Use RealTime Audio Plugins" checkbox I receive the message "No DirectX Plugins Installed".

You must not have installed the PGMusic Plugins. They come with BiaB and RB - reverb, EQs, compressor, etc
There should be an install file on the media that was sent. See if you see it in the root folder. They are used on audio tracks (recordings and realtracks)
In RB they can be used on individual tracks in various combinations.
