Forte does have descent sounding instruments and the drums can often sound 'surprising'. Before giving up on Forte's drums, keep in mind there are 3 kits included: Standard (#1), Brushes (#41), and Orchestral (#49). You may want to try trying the other kits first.
There are plenty of nice drum kits out there. I find the included Roland VSC/DXi drums can sound quite nice when used with Forte Coyote. With RealBand, you can mix and match synths to your desire. If you are using Windows 7, the Roland won't work though.
If these fail, consider one of the many soundfont libraries on the web. You have to learn how to use a different VST synth to use these.
HERE is good starting place. The VSTSynthFont is fairly easy to use but some complain of computer resource issues. They include links to soundfont libraries. Personally, I've used the SGM and the FluidR3 libraries. There is also the SFZ+ which is a little more involved to learn but seems to be more stable than VSTSynthFont. Both are free and can access the wealth of soundfonts available. I've used both with few issues.
Another poster suggested using RealDrums. I highly recommend that if possible.
