When you listen to music on this forum, how do you listen and in what proportion?

For example, I listen using headphones 90% of the time and on regular yamaha computer speakers 10%.

I'm curious if a little informal survey on here will show the same results stated in an article I read.

Please answer. Thank you!

Hey Josie,

When I listen to music on this forum (and other forums) it is with headphones on 100% of the time. They are almost a permanent fixture on my head

I never use headphones. They seem to color the sound more than my stereo speakers.

OK, a random thought;

I do casual listening on my laptop, which I have connected through a docking station to a set of Cambridge SoundWorks 2.1 speakers.

For critical listening I use my DAW (which is connected to the internet) and a pair of pedestal-mounted bi-amped 8" Behringer Truth B2031A speakers.

I only use headphones (beyerdynamic DT 770 reference) when I don't want to disturb others.

Thank you for all the replies so far. Please keep them coming!

If your answer is speakers could you be a little more specific as to what type - regular computer speakers, surround speakers, home stereo speakers, studio monitors etc.

Thank you! This is interesting.

The Tannoys are a stereo pair, probably classified as home stereo bookshelf speakers.
I would probably also use headphones if my hearing wasn't so unevenly toasted.

At work during lunch break, cheap (HP-100) headphones are the only way to go. At home, I've got M-Audio Studiophile AV 40s plus lots of ambient noise with kids running around the house. If a song can cut through that, it's a good mix.

Since my mancave is in the basement, it's almost always speakers. It depends on which computer I listen with. For one, it's a set of HP speakers with a subwoofer (which sounds pretty nice); for another, it's connected through my component stereo system; and for the laptop, it's the built in speakers. I only use the headphones for critical listening (like when someone asks what's wrong with a recording).

I use a pair of Tannoy Reveal active monitors, connected to a Mackie DFX-6 mixer. I use that setup to practice with my Aebersold tracks to. Good sounding setup.

Okay, if you want specifics, because of space restrictions, my normal setup is Klipsch Promedia 2.0.

http://www.klipsch.com.cn/na-en/products/promedia-ultra-2-0-overview/

When I’m not cramped for space, I use my Klipsch 5.1 500 watt system.

http://www.klipsch.com.cn/na-en/products/promedia-ultra-5-1-overview/

These things sound great with really crisp highs and vibrant lows.

My monitors are Tapco/Mackie SR5’s.

Headphones are Sony MDR-V6.

I used to use a pair Shure E3C earphones all the time, but now I have a set of M-Audio BX5A monitor speakers with the M-Audio SBX10 sub-woofer (which by the way I love) so I'd say (now) it's 70% speakers and 30% earphones.
