The older Sennheiser headphones are indeed much better than the new ones. You can get the same or higher quality, but you'd have to step up some types (and spend more)

Seems like a lot of companies have lowered their standards over the years (Sennheiser, Marantz, Harman-Kardon etc.) they do still make excellent products, but only in the top range...
