Hola un saludo para todos. He conversado con algunos amigos que ya tienen el Band in a Box 2009 y todos tienen muy buenos comentarios...y se ve increible!! Sin embargo, hay algo que me ha sorprendido, parece que el problema de grabacion de audio y midi simultaneo fué dejado de lado y no se solucionó aún siendo esta una version de upgrade mayor. Me sorprende mucho y esto deja solo dos probabilidades: una es que el problema o "bug" ha sido de muy dificil solución para los expertos programdores de PGMusic, lo cual es poco posible en vista de los grandes adelantos y caracteristicas muchisimo mas complejas que han sido incorporados en las ultimas versiones de BiaB. Y la otra posibilidad, mucho mas remota, sería que PGMusic no le ha dado importancia a solucionar este problema por el que aparentemente muy pocos usuarios han manifestado interés. Excepto muy pocos y por supuesto yo mismo, hemos hablado aqui en los foros del problema. Podria ser tambien un reflejo del "LOOK MA..NO MIDI" restandole importancia al MIDI y dandole prioridad a Real Track y Real Drums. Espero de verdad que no sea el caso, la incorporacion de Real Tracks y RD son un enorme avance!! pero el uso del MIDI sigue siendo muy importante y de hecho la version básica de Band in a Box sin real drums o real tracks SOLO puede trabajar por medio del MIDI. Yo quiero exponer aqui el PORQUE para mi es importante esta característica y quizá de esta forma algunos descubran su utilidad. Puede que muchos o la mayoria de los usuarios no necesiten grabar audio y midi al mismo tiempo, pero estoy muy seguro que hay quien lo necesita, caso contrario los mismos diseñadores de Band in a Box NO lo hubiesen incluido como caracteristica en el menu, creo que desde la version 2004 o 2005. Aqui estan algunas razones y ventajas: Para tecladistas y cantantes 1- Grabar la voz en el track de audio con un microfono mientras se toca y se graba el acompañamiento con un teclado MIDI. Para guitarristas MIDI y cantantes - Grabar la voz en el track de audio con un microfono mientras se toca y se graba el acompañamiento con una guitarra MIDI. Para guitarristas que quieran transcribir automaticamente sus partituras de canciones y solos - Grabar la guitarra normal en el track de audio con un microfono o por linea mientras se graba al mismo tiempo la señal MIDI de la misma guitarra (tiene que ser una guitarra o bajo con salida synth o MIDI). AL tener la señal MIDI de la guitarra grabada esta data nos va a aparecer logicamente en la ventana de partitura y notacion del Band in a Box, permitiendonos tener automaticamente la partitura de la parte de guitarra y a su vez el audio real. IDEAL y SUPER util para escribir ejercicios, escalas, lecciones, canciones, de TODO con la partitura incluida y el autentico sonido de la guitarra, ya que si grabaramos el MIDI solamente, lo cual SI ES posible, y en caso de solos complejos o improvisaciones seria muy dificil VOLVER a grabar exactamente lo mismo al menos que inviertieramos HORAS o dias aprendiendonos lo que grabamos nosotros mismos. En ninguno de los casos anteriores ambas cosas, audio y midi en este momento NO se pueden grabar al mismo tiempo a pesar de que el programa lo establece como posible en el menu de la ventana de grabacion de AUDIO. Solo el audio queda grabado, el MIDI queda ignorado por completo a pesar de estar marcada la opción en dicha ventana. No quiero quedar como un usuario impaciente, muy lejos de eso! pero recuerdo muy bien que el mismo Peter Ganón respondió en el foro de habla inglesa y se anunció que se solucionaría el BUG en revisiones posteriores. Pues pasaron las revisiones, incluso acaba de salir una NUEVA VERSION, y el problema, aparentemente sigue ahi, Lo que extraña y sorprende es que PGMusic no diga nada al respecto, silencio total. Yo mismo no he podido comprobar el problema en la version 2009 porque no he hecho el upgrade ni lo pienso hacer hasta que no este solucionado. Por lo que ruego a alguno de Uds. que tenga ya el BiaB 2009 si pudiesen hacer un test al respecto, simplemente tratar de grabar audio y midi al mismo tiempo, lo cual se selecciona y se habilita en la ventana de grabacion de audio que sale al darle al boton rojo correpondiente y seleccionar la opcion "grabar MIDI al mismo tiempo". Y si todavia estoy haciendo algo mal, despues de miles de pruebas, intento y configuraciones diferentes con mas de 5 tarjetas de audio diferentes y pruebas en al menos 6 conmputadoras con las versiones anteriores, pues me gustaría saber la solucion si alguien la tiene. Un gran abrazo para PGMusic y todos ustedes con los mejores deseos de un Año Nuevo 2009 lleno de paz, salud y mucha musica!! NOTA: Aún así con este problema, BiaB sigue siendo para mi un programa fundamental e indispensable y siempre sere su portavoz mas convencido!! Como verás el problema sigue aún sin solución, espero puedan dar con la tecla en las proximas producciones.
Supongo que intentarás con otros programas pero Band-in-a-Box estará de tu lado.

Hola Hugo, gracias por la información. Por lo visto es posible que el problema a nivel de programación sea mas dificil de solucionar de lo que pareciera. No dudo que encontraran resolverlo.
En cuanto a otros programas ya desde mediados de los 90 la grabación simultanea de audio y midi es norma comun y corriente en programas como Cubase, Logic Audio, Digital Performer y hoy día practicamente en la mayoría de los nuevos daws (Digital Audio Workstations) como Sonar, Pro-Tools. Debido a eso para mi no es problema hacerlo, ya que solo debo exportar la cancion a cualquiera de esos programas y trabajar alli, y de hecho asi lo he hecho siempre, sobre todo para la edición y creación de ejercicios en mis libros electronicos y videos para mis alumnos y proyectos personales. La razón por la cual también me es especialmente interesante esa caracteristica es porque me encanta tocar, improvisar y grabar mientras leo la partitura y los acordes, y aunque otros programas tengan edición y creacion de partituras, Band-in-a-Box es único en su estilo! . Además no podría prescindir de BiaB dada la cantidad de funciones y caracteristicas útiles que ofrece y las cuales uso a diario.
Creo que uno de los aspectos en donde Band-in-a-Box debe mejorar y renovarse, y en donde pienso que esta la raiz del problema, es en la implementación de su motor de audio, ya que las inmensas posibilidades que ahora esta ofreciendo con sus nuevos Real Drums, Real Tracks y nuevos estilos necesitan de mas versatilidad a la hora de configurar las tarjetas de audio, el MIDI (como interface de entrada y salida) y las salidas multicanal. Le deseo mucha suerte al equipo desarrolador de PG Music, pero antes que nada un enorme caudal de felicitaciones por una labor impresionantemente productiva que nos ha proporcionado a todos los usuarios muchas satisfacciones y beneficios.

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass.
