I have a Fender KXR Keyboard Amp with an eighteen-inch Speakeroonie....that along with my Behringer Ultratone HR3000 Stereo Keyboard Amp, with some assorted tweeters, suit me jus' fine...I have some effects that will give my guitars...and keyboard synths that bluesey feel! I like those keyboard amps to feed my BIAB and little ipod-touch, into!!

Hello Frank:

Congratulations. The important part is that you are satisfied with your choice. There are so many options out there & often people get way too emotional over their preferences. I have tried several amps over the years & some sound great & others don't do anything for me but if someone else likes them then that is great. My comments are just that my comments only (but being right doesn't hurt! ).

Have fun with your new amp.

Joseph

Fairly well-documented legend that even in ZZTop's hey-day, they used little tiny amps overdriven and mic'ed through the PA for their 'sound'.

Many artists nowadays use mic'ed small amps.

The days of the triple Marshall stacks (for the most part) are over.

After a lot of looking at different amps I decided on a Blackstar HT-5 head with separate cabinets.

http://www.blackstaramps.co.uk/products/ht-5/ht-5rh.php

http://www.amazon.com/Blackstar-HT-5-HT-5H-Guitar-Black/dp/B001P3UPOC

I got it from Musicians Friend as a customer return for 235.00. Its 5 watts with a nice clean channel and an absolutely killer gain channel....

I decided to go with separate cabinets so I went with a Lopoline 1x12 TV style cabinet.

http://www.lopoline.com/catalog/item/5402536/5358316.htm

I ended up getting 2 of them and the HT-5 fits perfectly on top... so it looks like a little mini stack.

Speakers definitely make a difference. Think about when one goes and buys a stereo system for the house and they spend so much time trying to decide on a pair of speakers... why would an amp or cabinet be any different... I ended up getting an Eminence Cannabis Rex and a Celestion Blue...

These sites give a good description as to the sound of each...

If you are set on the traditional Fender tone then you might want a Jensen..

.. although I have read some forums where the Eminence and others work well....

That's an awesome sound out of that Jazzmaster... I wonder why they stopped marketing them... not enough sales to warrant continuing it...? It seems most people are into higher gain amps ... I wouldn't part with that either...
