BIAB 2011:

My goal was basically to re-mix a song that was constructed with BIAB 2008.5 and ACID.
The song consisted of a BIAB midi bass and drums backing track and live audio guitar recorded in ACID.

1. I opened the BIAB file from a few years ago.
2. I went into styles and selected one with Real bass and Real drums.
3. When I played the song it had duplicate bass and drums (different sounds, a total mess)
4. I called PG Music for help. The tech guy told me I could either go into Seq to edit out the Midi parts or better still, use Real Band to remove the midi tracks.
5. Seq showed no tracks to edit at all. I wasn't going to install Real Band at this time for this task.
6. On a whim, I clicked on Audio button in top right of screen and muted it. Now the 'midi' tracks were gone!!!
7. I went ahead and extracted the bass and drums parts to .wav files.
8. Brought them into Acid and played them back there. They both had a lot of noise in their sound and very little signal. Also, the drum part had clunks and other 'live' sounds recorded in them!
9. I went into Windows/Control Panel/Sound and changed my Audio/Sound recording from Logitech Microphone to Edirol UA-25EX.
10. I re-generated the file again in BIAB and then extracted the .wavs once again. This time the signal was much cleaner, though still not that strong.

How is it that simply extracting .wav files in BIAB turns on my Logitech mic to record live sounds AND mixes that sound with the BIAB song???
At what point did my midi tracks become audio tracks and why did BIAB mute the earlier audio tracks and leave the latest ones when I clicked the Audio mute button?
TIA
