Thanks Mac that was helpful.

Let me tell you my sound setup so you can understand my system better.

When I open WinXP/Sounds and Audio Devices/Audio

I have just one choice for Sound Playback: Logitech USB Speaker
and one choice for Sound Recording: Logitech Microphone (Messenger).

I have one choice for Midi music Playback: Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth.

Once in a blue moon (less than 1% of the time) my internal sound card's drivers load and they are presented as a choice for recording (RealTek AC'97)

For Voice playback: once again only Logitech USB speaker presents itself.

For voice recording: only Logitech Microphone (Messenger) shows itself.

My Logitech camera/mic is always plugged into a USB port. It shows up in Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers and is using its own drivers.

When I open BIAB and go into Midi/Audio Drivers Setup, I have under Midi Input <No Midi/sound input>, that's it. (When I plug in my Edirol UA 25-EX, it also shows up here)

Under Midi Output Driver I have:
<No Midi/sound output>
Microsoft MIDI mapper
Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
(When I plug in my Edirol UA 25-EX, it also shows up here)

Most of the time, I was using VST/DXi Synth and had that box checked off, for Midi. With my recent DXi midi rendering problems it is currently unchecked.

For Audio settings I have:
Audio Driver type:
MME

Latency 488 mS

Audio Drivers:
Audio input driver:
Microsoft Sound Mapper
Logitech Microphone (Messenger) (there's the culprit!)

Audio Output Driver:
Microsoft Sound Mapper
Logitech USB speaker

That's it!
