I'm working with StyleMaker -- Edit Current Style (_CBALAD1.STY). Then I import the Guitar from _DRVCBAL.STY to replace the pedal steel guitar. Nothing changes, it's still the Pedal Steel.
I tried starting from BLANK.STY but then no RealTracks instruments will import and I just get MIDI instruments.
Does StyleMaker not import RealTracks intruments?

When you revisit the style, is it still saying "pedal steel"? If so, you should remember to save the style. If needed, save it under a different name.
BTW, there's an easy way to make RealStyles. Once you have a song loaded with custom RealTracks, at volumes that you lke, enter the RealTracks Assign dialog, and press the "Save Style" button. This makes a style using the song's RealTracks, at the volumes that you have set. You can fine tune the settings by revisiting the style in the StyleMaker like any other style.

Thanks, Peter. I did save the style under a different name and it does still say Pedal Steel for strings. You might want to try this yourself, as I described, because it seems to be a bug. When I import (in StyleMaker) the Guitar from _DRVCBAL.STY into the String Track of _CBALAD.STY, all the numbers in the measures boxes in StyleMaker do change so it is importing something. It just doesn't finish the job.
Thanks for the tip on using the RealTrack Assign dialog. That's a nice tool. Unfortunately it doesn't let me replace a String Track with a Guitar Track. I wanted to keep the Guitar Track in _CBALAD.STY
Anyway, I remembered that I can select the 803 Electric Rhythm Guitar as a soloist so that's a good work around for this.

I'm having a related problem with Stylemaker, except that when I make a simple MIDI style for the song The Weight by the Band, just a simple side stick on the 1-2-3-4 beats, and switch after the intro to _CBALAD1, the BIAB crashes and displays the error:
"access violation at address 00767B8E in modulebbw.exe. read of address 000000000 at:00767B8E"
I tried switching in a RealTrack to cover MIDI instruments in my Weight style, but it completely ignores by programmed side-stick beats and plays its own thing.
I tried LiveHelp's advice of creating a completely new file and random chords and putting in the SAME style switches. Still gave me the same access violation. And yes, my User Account Control is shut off completely. Advice? This seems so simple, but something systemic is crashing BIAB.
Another method I looked into but found nothing in, is there a simple side stick beat in 1-2-3-4 already in existence in the BIAB library?
