Just guessing, but if you type an invalid chord, nothing goes to the cell so nothing has to be deleted in an extra step. However, you still advance to the next cell. Perhaps a better behavior would be to stay there if it's an invalid chord? Bells and whistles could sound?

I did not recall what John said, that this has been a request on the Wishlist. In fact, in about 18 years of using this program, I never thought much about this 'problem' until you asked. But he's right; you could go to the Wishlist and add your opinion. The observations of someone new to the program are very important, because you see things we take for granted.

There is one other substantive reason for changing this that I remember was discovered in beta testing: long chords truncating. For example, try entering this chord: Bb7b5b9b13 and you will see that the little cell is not long enough to display it.
