Excuse me if this is in the manual somewhere or I am missing something obvious:
Why it is that when I type in chords to the chord worksheet area nothing is displayed until I hit the Enter key? I find it a little disconcerting to see nothing updating on the display while I'm typing. Is there a reason for this? If I type a "C", I expect to see a "C" on the display.
I'm using BIAB 2011.

There is a data area that is updated as you type. Look just below the Song and Style buttons, or just above the upper left of the chordsheet.

You might want to go to the wishlist and request this. Several of us have in the past, but it's good to add another voice. I really would like to see what I'm typing appear in the cell I'm currently working in, much like what what you expect to happen in a spreadsheet program. That would allow my focus to be where I am in the song, not on the little box at the top left.

Oh, there it is! Thanks for that, its so small I missed it while I scanned the screen.
What is the rationale for not having the cell show whats being typed in place? Seems a very strange omission.

Just guessing, but if you type an invalid chord, nothing goes to the cell so nothing has to be deleted in an extra step. However, you still advance to the next cell. Perhaps a better behavior would be to stay there if it's an invalid chord? Bells and whistles could sound?
I did not recall what John said, that this has been a request on the Wishlist. In fact, in about 18 years of using this program, I never thought much about this 'problem' until you asked. But he's right; you could go to the Wishlist and add your opinion. The observations of someone new to the program are very important, because you see things we take for granted.
There is one other substantive reason for changing this that I remember was discovered in beta testing: long chords truncating. For example, try entering this chord: Bb7b5b9b13 and you will see that the little cell is not long enough to display it.

You can press Ctrl-F2 to get in-place editing of any chord. That's useful to edit an existing chord that just requires a small change for example. The chord entry is similar to MS Excel, where you don't have in-place editing unless you press a key (F2 in the case of Excel).
