Line 6 just announced an upgrade to their POD "bean" series.. Basically they took the same amp modeling from the HD 300,400 and 500 and the stomp box effects from the M13 / M9 and incorporated it into the "bean" desktop format...

As at some point I'm going to need an interface (USB) to the computer anyway for recording ... I'm looking at this unit...

I know I can connect to the PC to record with a less expensive device (Line 6 UX2 $199 and others)...but this adds the amp modeling as well as all the stomp box effects.. it accepts a 2nd input (XLR) .. microphone or a second guitar... and headphones...etc...

It seems that this is trying to be the "swiss army knife" for guitar.. recording, modeling, effects.. etc....

My thought is for the serious hobbyist playing/ learning at home this would be a good solution...

I know people are going to say... "Learn how to play" before you get involved with modeling effects etc... and I understand that... but half of this hobby to me is not only playing... but knowing and enjoying all the aspects of it... different amp sounds, different effects... in one of my past lives I was a tech geek so for me this is all part of the fun... all part of the hobby..

My question is.. What is your opinion of Line 6 amp and HD effects in general ans what do you think about the new HD POD desktop unit as a "swiss army knife" for the hobbyist learning and playing at home..?

Thanks...
Bob
