Hi Bob,

I recently looked into several different devices and wound up buying the Fender Mustang ll. The good news is that there are many ways to go these days with lots of manufacturers putting out some really good gear. Some of the Roland stuff blew my socks off, but once I listened to a couple of the Mustang models, I was hooked. Since you're wanting something for home only, I think you should look really hard at the Fender Mustang l.

You didn't mention what computer you have but if you have a slot for it, I highly recommend a good sound card over usb. I have the Audiophile 2496 and I also have usb devices and I much prefer the ease, high quality, and very low latency of recording with the 2496.

What ever you decide on, I also recommend downloading and installing AmpliTube 3.5 free. It isn't crippled in any way--just doesn't include all the models--but what's there is very usable and sounds darn good. It's available here:

Let us know what you decide on and best of luck.
