For the melody track in MIDI, it depends mostly of the instrument you assign to this track. If you use a piano patch, it would sound fine if your MIDI engine is a good one, but if you assign an instrument as an harmonica, a flute, a windbrass instrument, etc you will need to tweak the melody track to make it sound more realistic, unless your MIDI imported melody track is already tweaked for a specific patch.
