I have Realband 2011 and tried to run a MID file I bought of Extreme Ways by MOBI. MS media player play it OK, but RealBand loads and display it OK, but when I try to play it the program freezes and locks up ....not responding. My other Mid files play OK, but I have had them for months.

Rob,
Make sure that you close Windows Media Player (or any other music-related programs) before you try to open RB and attempt to play the midi file there.

That is not it. It is just MID files from this one supplier. None of them play in Real band.

Why not try loading it into BIAB, then saving it as a [differently named] MIDI, and try to load that new one in RealBand. Perhaps there is something in the file to keep folks from breaking it down into its parts. There are techniques to scrample a MIDI file to prevent disassembling it, but still allowing it to play and sound correct. Just a thought.

I know it looks like there's something wrong with RB but there's not. It's in the file itself or in your config setup. One good way to test this is look in the Biab setup window and see what you're using for midi input/output, what synth, MME or ASIO, what audio output and then open RB and make sure it's set up exactly the same way. The fact that it plays in WMP means squat because you may have that playing the default soundchip on your mobo. Also go to the website you bought it from and read the fine print, like John said there may be some kind of copy protection embedded in the file that stops it from loading into a sequencer because they don't want you tearing it apart and copying the tracks. I've got over a thousand midi's and all but a very few play in RB just fine.
