Is there an Events List button in RB? I thought there was but don't seem to see it now. I was able to access the events list via options though. Guess I must be getting waaay too old and suffering from CRS.

There's no icon with a big E in my ver. 4 RB 2011. However F2 works to bring up the events list. Thanks

Yeah, I have seen it before because I had on ver 2010, but it's gone now. I can access the events via F2 or the Windows drop down, but no icon. There is no "Return To Factory Settings" that I can find in Preferences or in Help either. It's not a big deal, but this seems pretty weird.

Then click on the little down triangle (you see it at the end of my screen shot), and see if for some reason the Events List button is unchecked. Check it to make it appear again. Or, depending on your screen resolution, click on the ">>" icon right above the down triangle and see it's just a matter of not all the icons appearing on the screen. The extra icons will show up there.
The screen view I showed you was from RB 2011, so it should be there.

Thanks, John, Er Uh with egg on my face.....I was only looking at the the drop down v's on the right side of the screen. I completely missed the ones in the middle of the tool bar. Duh! Now it shows as do a few more that I use such as Audio Edit. I should probably be using RB more often than I do so that I'm more familiar with it. Thanks for your patience.

That's one reason. What it can do for your BiaB projects is another.

You are so right, rharv. I had downloaded a midi file and whoever did it put 6 tracks on the soloist track. In RB, I was able to get them all on individual tracks. I'm having fun playing with Mixcraft, too. I just got my Alexis q25 keyboard to work with it.

If the Alexis works with that it should also work with RB. Just a matter of selecting the MIDI port.

Yeah. It does work with RB. I set it up in RB first thing with no problems at all. Sure is a pretty neat little keyboard for $59.

The timing of the notes in ticks according to your chosen resolution as set in Options > Resolutions. The default is 480 ticks (time divisions) per quarter note. The time values of the ticks do depend on Tempo, but can be viewed as approximately 1 second per tick at a Tempo of 120 beats per minute.

One second per tick at 120 BPM is quite a ways off. Also default is 120 in RB.
Tempo sets the beats per minute. Resolution sets how many divisions of each beat there will be. Most of us set reolution pretty high to be more 'exact'. However it makes the math harder when trying to do adjustments later.
For instance; if the resolution is set to 120, every midi event (and start of audio recording events) will be rounded to the nearest 120th of a beat. Setting it higher causes less rounding off and a more accurate recording of the track. For the math side of it; 60,000 milliseconds to a minute. So 60,000 divided by a tempo of 120 would mean 500 milliseconds per beat. Divide that by resolution to see how accurate things can get. At 120 resolution (and 120 tempo)there will be a 4 millisecond round off. At 1960 resolution there will be .25 milliseconds of rounding off ... much more accurate.
BTW, resolution is one of those features that uses very little computer resources for the return benefit of accuracy. The computer is actually working just as hard to round things off at lower resolutions, in my experience.

Yes Bob I realised after the entry that my math calculation had strayed somewhat as the approximation is actually near to 1 MILLI second. I tend to use 960 for general purposes and the maximum resolution for audio editing.

That resolution only affects midi.

Not true, The higher the resolution the more precise you can zoom in on an audio edit. Try it in the audio edit window. At 120 you can cut a 120th of a beat section, and at 3840 you're almost to sample size level.
Audio tracks are also triggered by midi events (event list of audio track).
I've said it before, the resolution is one of the most overlooked settings.
