I just got my version 12 update today and loaded it in, then put the Real Drums 1-20 disc in and nothing, it doesn't even register as being there. Accepting that I am somewhat challenged with computers, what am I not doing?
I also tried to fill a track from Real Drums but couldn't find anything in the search/browse function.

I think I have established that it is the computer not reading the disc. I just put the disc in my wife's laptop to see if anything would happen and it instantly popped up a window ready to be loaded so I guess that means the disc is fine. It might be sledgehammer time for the computer but maybe a cleaning disc first.

It just occurred to me, can I download the disc on my wifes computer onto a stick and then load it onto my computer thru the USB port?

Hi Clive. Well ... now that you have thoroughly beaten yourself up ... You could have simply put the disk into your computer, clicked on START/Run then navigated to your CD. There you can click on the setup file and everything goes natural from there.

I'd say your computers version of windows has auto detect turned off.

Russell, no it worked fine for the Version 12 disc, as soon as that finished I put the drum disc in, no time lapse or changing settings. As soon as the stick went in the USB port it was away. My wife pointed out the thing is 4 years old and has never ever seen a cleaning disc so I think maybe I'll try one today.

Hello Clive,

The RealDrums disc you got may have been a DVD?

Andrew,
Funny you should mention this, I just noticed it says 'DVD-ROM for windows".
Where to now?

Clive,
The easiest thing would be to purchase a DVD drive for the computer. A DVD burner will cost you about $30 now. The CD format your computer can read now, and the DVD format of the disk and not compatible. The DVD can't be read in a standard CD drive. Your wife's computer has a DVD drive in it. Since your wife's laptop can copy the information to a memory stick, you can read the information off her computer and transfer it to yours.

If your computer is old enough that it does not even have a DVD ROM, it may also be time to consider upgrading to a new system completely.

Regards,

Gary

I'm blessed watching God do what He does best. I've had a few rough years, and I'm still not back to where I want to be, but I'm on the way and things are looking far better now than what they were!
