The easiest thing would be to purchase a DVD drive for the computer. A DVD burner will cost you about $30 now. The CD format your computer can read now, and the DVD format of the disk and not compatible. The DVD can't be read in a standard CD drive. Your wife's computer has a DVD drive in it. Since your wife's laptop can copy the information to a memory stick, you can read the information off her computer and transfer it to yours.

If your computer is old enough that it does not even have a DVD ROM, it may also be time to consider upgrading to a new system completely.
