I need some assistance. I have read through the online help with lyrics but cannot get them to work or display on each musical part. Here is what I am really needing in case there is a better way.

1. I want to prepare tracks with BIAB and then have our worship team play them live.
2. I can get the different parts to print out like piano, strings, etc.
3. They are complaining that without word queues it is hard to follow. Something I understand as we many times will change the arrangement to fit the responsiveness of the congregation, i.e. repeart choruses and such.
4. I do not need lyrics to align note for note necessarily just close. My singers and I mostly play and sing of a chord lead sheet.

Are there any tutorials anyone is aware of that walks you through the lyrics features at a functional level.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Terry

There is a tutorial of sorts in the help files. Use the note entry method and the lyrics will line up as well.

Hello Terry,

I suggest using Note-based lyrics instead, since they are much better to format. You need to have notes in your melody track to be able to enter the lyrics. If you don't have a melody, you can just enter a "dummy note" wherever you want to insert some lyrics - after, you can erase the notes on the melody track and the lyrics will stay where you entered them.

I had saved this post some time ago from Andrew.

Note-based lyrics are much more flexible than line-based lyrics - they allow you to enter lyrics at a specific position (e.g. under specific melody notes), and have more formatting options. However the lyrics must be entered by associating them with a specific note on the melody or soloist track. To enter note-based lyrics, you press the [L] button in the notation window and type your lyrics into the box that appears. When you type your lyric, it will be placed under the currently highlighted note; to advance to the next note, press Enter, or Tab. To go to a previous note, you can press Shift+Tab.

If your song doesn't have a melody, you could consider using the following method to enter your lyrics:

1. Enter a note - any note - on each beat in bar 1.
2. Go to Edit | Copy from.. to... Copy from bar 1 to bar 2; number of bars to copy = 1; # times to repeat copy = [however many bars your song is].
3. Enter your note-based lyrics
4. Go to Edit | Erase from.. to... Erase from bar 1; # bars to erase = [however many bars your song is]. Uncheck 'Lyrics'.

(Alternatively, you could just mute the melody track and leave the notes there)

The lyrics will stay at the position you where you entered them. If you need to correct a typo, you could use the Lyric event list - press the [#] button in the notation window and click [Edit Lyrics]. You'll see that you could also use the event list to manually enter lyrics at a specific position.

Another way to insert formatted text at any point in your song, is to toggle into editable notation mode, right-click where you want to insert the text, and click on 'Insert Section Text'.
