Real Tracks parts are only there if they are underlined. So they should be green and underlined. You can chose a midi style, have the melody and have harmonies and then print those out, so say you wanted an alto part or a flute part that's pretty easy.

Start with an all midi style (not realtracks). You can get the thing fleshed out, and some parts printed.

Then go to RealBand.

Bflat instruments play generally +2, so if you want a horn part and are in F transpose the sheet to G and print the part for trumpet etc, then transpose back to F and finish up. E flat is avail for sax and some other horns.

I have handed out parts done in Band in a Box and had a group play 4 part harmonies in brass.

This just takes some getting used to.

I'd pick a very simple song and work on it, so it's short and compact.

I've jammed to "Just a Closer Walk" in a regular jazz group, seems to me that is really short and all the verses are the same. Dixiland style might work ok.
