I dag kan man for forholdsvis få penge indrette et hjemmestudie, hvor man kan opnå prof lyd. Herunder følger en beskrivelse af mit studie, som er semi-prof forstået på den måde, at jeg kun kan optage 1-2 instrumenter ad gangen og altså fx ikke et helt trommesæt. Men lydkvaliteten er, hvad grej angår, prof. Resten er op til mig og hvis det ikke lyder godt er det min skyld.
Motoren i studiet er min 24 tommer iMac. En PC er såmænd ligeså god, men Mac'en er nu lækker. Mit DAW er Cubase 6.
Audiomodul: TC Electronic Konnekt 24
Syntesizere: Alesis QS6 og Roland Sound Expansion.
Højtalere: Genelec 1030 A, Fostex PMO 4
MIDI Controller: Behringer BCF 2000

Hvis man vil i gang med et lille hjemmestudie er det slet ikke nødvendigt med så meget grej. Et audiomodul, et par rimelige højtaler og en (helst god) mikrofon samt selvfølgeligt Band-in-a-Box og en DAW, så er man godt i gang.
Jeg håber andre Band-in-a-Box brugere vil skrive lidt om, hvordan de har indrettet deres studie.

Hej Lindbjerg Et imponerende set-up. Det kunne være interessant at høre noget af dit musik. Jeg kunne tænke mig at spørge dig, hvad er det Wavelab kan som ikke Cubase kan, siden du ikke master i Cubase  ? vh Jan

Jeg arbejder mest med børnemusik. For tiden arbejder jeg med en CD & bog som er beregnet til specialskoler og andre skoler. Jeg har lavet en del demoer for folk. Indspillet en afslapnings CD for et firma som hedder Fysicon (fysicon.dk). Mixet livemusik for trad. jazz bandet Vestre Jazzværk (desværre ikke udgivet). Desuden bruger jeg studiet til undervisning i bl.a. Band-in-a-Box. Desværre har jeg ikke ret meget tid til indspilning, da jeg, ved siden af mit almindelige arbejde, også skal oversætte Band-in-a-Box samt passe forummet.
Angående Wavelab: Man kan, som du antyder, udføre stort set det samme i Cubase, som man kan i Wavelab. Hvis jeg ikke kunne få det til Edu pris, ville jeg nok heller ikke bruge det. Men det har nogle funktioner, som Cubase ikke har. Det kan fx finde fejl, man kan eksportere i alle mulige formater, samt en vigtig funktion. Man kan høre musikken før og efter plugins med samme lydstyrke. Dvs man lader sig ikke snyde af den ekstra lydstyrke som limiteringen giver. Desuden har den et godt brændeprogram.

Af midi Band in a box 2010.5 Fender strat USA Ibanez Akk. guitar Basguitar Noname AKG C3000 Studiemikrofon Se Se2000 Studiemikrofon Jeg skriver og indspiller egne sange i mit lille studie. Jeg har indtil for nyligt lavet midi filer på den gamle MC 500 som kører via midi med min Korg HD recorder. Så er der lagt sang og guitar på og fjernet nogle midispor efterhånden. MEN så mødte jeg RealTracks, og så bliver der næsten ikke lavet mere midi. Nu laver jeg tracks i BIAB og læser dem ind i Korg'en, og lægger sang og spiller guitar på . Det lyder rigtig godt. Jeg kan godt høre du har glæde af RealTracks, og især Pedal steel RT. Du har jo noget rigtig godt grej. Hvorfor redigerer du ikke i Sonar?

Hej Lindbjerg, jeg har ikke haft overskud til at bestige det bjerg Sonar, Cubase, eller lign programmer, det kræver vist en støttepædagog i 14 dage.

Ingen af de gængse DAW's er uoverstigeligt. Hvem siger man skal gå direkte efter toppen og bestige bjerget på en gang. Lær de helt fundamentale ting først, og du vil hurtigt finde ud af, hvad du har brug for at vide. Lidt læsning i manualer kommer man ikke uden om, men der er ikke mange, som kender de "store" DAW's helt til bunds. De fleste lærer det de har brug for. Husk på at de kan næsten alting og det har ingen brug for. Du vil opnå meget mere kontrol med din musik, hvis du indspiller og bearbejder din musik direkte i Sonar. Meeen det er nu min mening, andre kan have andre arbejdsmetoder, som fungerer for dem.

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing.
