Hi folks,

I find it a bit annoying (ok I admit I find it really annoying) not to have a quick preview of styles in realband such as in biab. To be honest if this was present I would probably not use biab as much as this is usually the reason I do use biab to get a style I want quixkly. Ok there is a style demo in realband but it seems to take forver to load compared to biab.

Just wondering why its not possible to implement this feature in realband or is PG very reluctant to put this feature in realband because they consider biab its flagship product and they want it to be a little ahead?

I have a quad core computer and biab 2011

thanks

I'd like to piggyback on this and request that the preview for realdrums skips the count-in. When you're previewing stuff you're usually in a hurry, and the count-in gets old pretty quickly. Also, unless you're recording, I see no reason whatsoever to have a count-in. The ideal demo would be an immediate bar or two of the beat to see if it fits.

Likewise for the realtrack demo

I'd also like to see a quick and easy way to preview the individual parts from MIDI styles

Hi, MusicLover -

I think yours is a fine suggestion; however, I think the problem is how the two programs work. BIAB is a tool designed mainly for listening, whereas RealBand is a tool for recording.

Although, BIAB appears to render RealTracks faster, it really doesn't. It just starts playing the song while it is still rendering the rest of it in the background. That's why you sometimes run into problems when you hit play and then stop and try to do something right away.

RealBand, on the other hand, renders the entire piece before letting you play it.

That being said, maybe PGMusic could allow for a time-limited rendering of styles (maybe even with your chord progression). Perhaps 15 seconds or so. I would think that could render pretty quickly, and give you a taste of what the style sounds like. Just a thought.

Thanks for replies Pat and John. I like your idea John as I find one of the biggest problems for me is trying to get the right midi style to start me off and BIAB is a lot quicker for that. I usually preview the style over a small number of bars usually 16, so if it was possible to open that 16 bar in realband and preview the styles as quick as it is in biab then I would be really happy. An individual midi part preview as Pat suggested would also be handy to have.

RealBand is not BIAB and there is no quick fix. However, you can set up your Seq file to improve your review situation. If you have not done so already, use Tracks > Make first 8 Tracks BB Tracks. Then Highlight a section of the first BB Track for say 32 bars only and then extend the highlighting to all the BB Tracks.

Open the Styles Window and use Search facilties to find styles in the genre you require and select style - Select Generate Icon - Select BB Selected Region, Selected Tracks and your tracks are created.

This is relatively quick and you can regenerate individual tracks by using the various other options available. When satisfied, generate the full track length.
