Well.....I did say I thought I'd be back soon!
Getting on well with Real Treacks etc........again using C-hag style...I have Bass, Piano & Guitar on Midi...& Real Tracks for Drums, Pedal Steel & Mandolin. I have a Rall over the last four bars.....checked all the boxes to make sure & it plays back correctly in BIAB. When I try to drag & drop into Sonar.......the Real Tracks play the Rall......but NOT the 3 Midi tracks........I've tried with & without DAW enabled....& frozen & unfrozen. Have I missed something in BIAB......or in Sonar? Thanks, Joe G.

Well, I've maanaged to work out one thing I was doing wrong! I saved the midi files to a new project in Sonar. They played the Rall. Copied into the correct file....they played the Rall again........but when I started to edit again .......problems.....this project has a"LIVE" Guitar intro for 12 bars....then a RealDrum Roll....then all the tracks play. I had CLICKED HELD DOWN & DRAGGED the clips to the new position. Audios are fine...not the midis! Why should that be? Thanks, Joe G.

Midges?

When stuff happens to me it's usually age related, which is only good for single malts and cheese

Joe, have you tried exporting the MIDI tracks from BIAB as a Type 1 file and then opening that in Sonar? I'm having trouble advising re. Sonar 2 as that was the version I started out with a decade ago! If you can get hold of that 8.5 version you mentioned then I might be able to help in more detail.

Midis? Midges? Is this a result of your trip to Scotland?
The West of Scotland 'midge' is the most fearsome creature on the planet...bar none! I hope that you are doing reasonably well John , my friend? I always have a chuckle at your off-beat sense of humour! Regards, Joe G

Hi John, Sorry that my 'stone age' Sonar is causing me so many problems.......It always did what I wanted !
An update....I managed to open the files successfully in Sonar now. As I explained......I want a 12 bar LIVE guitar intro.....then the other instruments come in...Drums ......the midi Bass & the Real Tracks.
I Clicked & selected each track...held..till the little rectangle appeared....the dragged along to bar 12. The audio tracks are fine......the MIDI tracks LOOK fine......but they have lost the RALL at the end!
On my last attempt...they STILL play properly when back at Bar One....but not when moved. I know I must be doing something wrong.....but with my "very limited" knowledge of Sonar & Midi...I don't know what.
Thanks, Joe G.

I thought all of Scotland had midges, ach aye.

When we left after 5 days I was sure I'd say ach aye all the time. In the west it seems you say it 3 times in a sentence. I think each time they expect a change of weather. I'm glad we missed the worst, people have been stuck in the Isles for days, to rough for ferries.

I'm lurching forward, legally deaf, and battling constant pneumonia. Other than that I'm finer than the hair on a frog's back.

Joe why not launch into learning to use RB instead of Sonar 2.2, as I am sure you could get a nice product from it and it would solve a lot of this sort of thing, since you can open the BiaB file in RB.

Robh, Thanks, It has been suggested........and I've actually opened up a couple of BIAB files in RB. The interface seems so different to me, after Sonar. I'm trying to wade through the manual, to get a better idea of editing....everything seems to move so fast in it! A great prog though......I'll definitely keep trying! Joe G.
