The RT audition does not play your current chord progression; it merely plays a short demo of the RT to give you an idea of what the instrument sounds like. Also, note that if you shift-click on the Audition button, you'll see the folder from where the demo file came. There is also a button to the right of the Audition button that loads a demo of that instrument, but with other complementary instruments playing as a band, to give you a feel of what the instrument sounds like in that context. Those other instruments are not the ones you already have in your RealBand file, but instruments from a pre-defined RT style.
Hope that made sense. Most of that information is available in the fly-by hint when you hover the mouse of the buttons.
