Ok heres the deal, I need to generate a some musuic tracs to play my guitar to. I have 2009 RB & BIAB obvisly. I have found a midi file that i like. it imports to RB then has 8 Tracks the drums being split on 3 tracks. I guess the best thing would be to just use the melody part and generate real drums and base. Is it any easier in RB2011 to do this ? is it worth upgrading ? Does anybody have a tutorial on how to do this sort of thing. Ok thatks for putting up with nube questions. I havent used RB2009 or BIAB2009 cause it seems difficult . Any (nice) suggestions welcome

This is exactly what i do for all my songs i play with. It is easy as pie. 2009 will do it, but in 2011 you have far more RT and Rd options to work with, plus far better time and tempo stretching capabilities.
I take the midi file and open it, and play it through a decent GM synth to hear it, then start the surgery.
I first add better synths thru the synth rack, and asign the tracks to them one at a time to get the best sound i can.
Next i open the chords view in RB and add part marker where they belong, i.e. beginning of veses and choruses and such. I them decide if I like the midi drums, becuae some song require a signature beat or pattern, if that is the case i work with the synth to get a good sound, if not i audition Real Drums to see if I like that better.
Then i do any clean up on the chords screen for the crazies that the chord wizard dreams up when it interprets the midi file on import. Sometimes you need to replace the G7th-aug-min-to the power of 7 chords for a simple G!!
I next take a look at Real Tracks to see if a couple of those might "real up" the song, and replace a couple midi tracks that might sound way to midi-ish.
Finally i make sure effects are right, slap a limiter on the main output buss, and adjsut all panning and volume issues.
save and repeat!!
