Is it my imagination, or are jazz acoustic bass Realtracks smoother and less 'woody' with fewer 'artifacts' like string noise? Don't know if I EQ differently, but they sound much better to my ear than when originally introduced. They sound great!

In my oppinion all of the real tracks have improved greatly especially accoustic bass. The early bass tracks seemed to have intonation issues. The jazz bass and drum tracks now sound about as good as my favorite live players and play the right notes and don't give me any aggravation. The accoustic piano parts are now usable but not up to the standards of the bass and drums. Piano is very dificult to record. With the new stretching technology the quality of all real tracks is much better at all tempos.

I noticed the improved RT jazz acoustic bass parts, as well. They sound louder for one thing, which I like. Now, if I could hear the drums on waltz styles. They all seem too quiet. I mix them at max volume and can still barely hear them.

There are a few factors at play that make them sound better:
- there are different players - the newer ones are Neil Swainson (George Shearing's bass player for 10 years)
- we have remade the soloists, adding in new features since the originals were done.
- we have better tempo stretching and transpositions, so they sound better overall at all tempos.
- we made some "simpler" variations for people that want strict walking without many 8th notes.
- holds, shots, 4 bar endings added (compared to the first ones)

Peter, They definitely sound so much better! I'm boosting the bass tracks just to hear them..........and I find myself tempted to feature "Bass" solos! Thanks, Joe G.

If for none other than the reasons given by Peter above, everyone should try to upgrade to version 2011 if they haven't already. It really is better.
