Boy or boy, that sounds strange. We do get all kinds of questions but this is one of the most basic features in BIAB.

When you use the drop down to change the key, it comes back and says "do you want to?" are your saying no to this?

Have you read the manual?

Okay now is your base key C and you PROGRAMMED it in F? So you used F, Dm, Bb, C, etc....? If so, you need to change the BASE key down to G, one fourth lower. That will make your PROGRAMMED F be a C, your Dm be an Am, your Bb be an F, your C be a G, etc..... it will move the whole "sheet of music" down a 4th.

It sounds like you may have the wrong idea of what the "transpose" feature actually means. You program "tuned" in C. The transpose feature will change the "tune" key and move everything the corresponding amount of half steps.

thanks E

i think my problem was i never bothered setting the key in the key sig box....i just went ahead and entered the chords and expected the prog to transpose the key changes for me, i have since followed the correct steps and the changes have worked as expected.thanks

BIAB lets you type in whatever chords you want; it doesn't guess the key for you and the one shown on the screen will be the key signature the notation uses. What I do when I mismatch the song key to the key signature is to first change it (with the drop down box) to match the song's actual key, but answer "NO" when asked to transpose. Then I change to the key I want it to be in and answer "YES" when asked to transpose.

I hope that made sense.

Right you are Mr Silvertones. I didn't even SEE the "set key/transpose" button the first time I used BIAB. It works C=C if it is set to C and you programmed the song in C. But if it is set to C and you write the song with the A family chords, you then need to do "transposing math" when you want to move it. Sounds like from his last response he has it together now.

If i forget to set the key first i just click the change the key button, set the right key, and then and say no BEFORE it goes to the second box. Then you can change to what you want from there.
