Hi All. I opened RB and opened an Elvis Presley song I want to work on. I didn't like the original drum track so I instructed RB to make a new one. I went to the Chords window and put the stops where I wanted them and added Part Markers to make the drums do certain things for dynamics, then clicked on the Generate button and clicked on the drums button. RB made the track just the way I like it with one exception. This song is a shuffle/swing tune. But at the part markers RB inserts a 4/4 time lick which sounds kind of odd. Anybody else having this problem?

Think I may have figgered out the problem. It seems this program is using a 4/4 beat style. But for the most part sounds like a shuffle. How weird is that?

You and I do the same kind of music so an Elvis shuffle like "All Shook Up" is a 4/4 shuffle. The difference is in the HH or Ride symbol. Otherwise they are the same. Here is the difference:The X is a hit to the cymbal. Each group is a 1/4 note
1. Straight 4/4 as we call it:
XO XO XO XO
2. 4/4 Shuffle as we call it
XOX XOX XOX XOX
If you called up a RD shuffle style the fills should be OK but take in mind that as i said only the ride or HH is affected by shuffle & the kick.
And of course one of the schooled theory guys is gonna say "that's a 12/8feel".And there right cause if you fill in the "O" and play XXX XXX XXX XXX it is indeed a 12/8 SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Thanks John. I never knew there was a 4/4 shuffle. This song came with the style. But the drums had no bass drum. So I switched the style to a shuffle and all is well. I have all the sounds I like in the drums now.

We non schooled road warriors call it a 4/4 shuffle however as I said I think technically it would be a 12/8 as the HH or Ride are notated to a triplet feel however notes are skipped. The difference in the kick drum in a straight 4/4 and a 4/4 shuffle is the same if it's played strictly on the 1/4 notes. It's when you play the "&" before the 3 that makes it different. In a shuffle the "&" is a little miss placed as opposed to a straight 4/4.

If you are shuffling, you are grooving with a PG style. Those are some of my favorite styles in Biab/RB to make a song with. I usually type in "shuffle" and use the style filter to narrow down the similar styles. Don't forget to mix and match those bass and guitar parts in the chorus, some guitar parts playing a different pattern can really make a song pop.
