You and I do the same kind of music so an Elvis shuffle like "All Shook Up" is a 4/4 shuffle. The difference is in the HH or Ride symbol. Otherwise they are the same. Here is the difference:The X is a hit to the cymbal. Each group is a 1/4 note
1. Straight 4/4 as we call it:
XO XO XO XO
2. 4/4 Shuffle as we call it
XOX XOX XOX XOX

If you called up a RD shuffle style the fills should be OK but take in mind that as i said only the ride or HH is affected by shuffle & the kick.
And of course one of the schooled theory guys is gonna say "that's a 12/8feel".And there right cause if you fill in the "O" and play XXX XXX XXX XXX it is indeed a 12/8 SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
