We non schooled road warriors call it a 4/4 shuffle however as I said I think technically it would be a 12/8 as the HH or Ride are notated to a triplet feel however notes are skipped. The difference in the kick drum in a straight 4/4 and a 4/4 shuffle is the same if it's played strictly on the 1/4 notes. It's when you play the "&" before the 3 that makes it different. In a shuffle the "&" is a little miss placed as opposed to a straight 4/4.
