FYI

Make all BB Tracks, regular tracks, and then see how Track 9 works on a midi generate.
Isn't Track 9 reserved for BB Audio.

I only have 2011, so haven't tried the above in 2011.5. But as reported it's fine in 2011.

Only the first 8 are for BB. Doesn't work anyway on any none BB track..

I wonder if it has to do with wav being the default track type now. I tried after changing type to MIDI and it still didn't work, but those first 8 tracks have something that allow them to work.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Yes, we spotted that and have fixed it. A patch should be available later today on the site. Will update this post with the link...

Yes this function is now working and that's great but the other problem I mentioned is still there. The type O midi file. I found a website where all the files are type O's and RB gives me the box saying do I want to extract the type O file to separate tracks, I say yes but nothing happens. This is a bug, It's been working as long as I've been using PT and RB until now.

How about if you use 'Edit - Extract channels to Tracks' afterwards?

I've never used that function before but I just tried it and nothing happened. I see that the file I was testing says channel 0 on track 1. I was going to dig up your email address and send it to you but I just now found another site with another type 0 on it.
If someone wants to test this go here Sinatra download Mack the Knife and see if it extracts for you. It's a crappy midi but that's ok it's just a test. Cover your ears I know squat about type 0 files but I see this one says channel 0 as well. Thanks,

Bob

I just tried, and as suspected, it is related to the tracks being set as audio tracks (the new default). I used the edit pulldown - extract channels to tracks.
Then enabled the channel table checkbox, and when I hit OK I got weird message saying track numbers had to be between 11-48 so I changed the track table.

Then when I hit OK I got flashing yellow message saying it did not extract to audio tracks.

So I changed the 16 chosen tracks to MIDI tracks and tried again; nothing.

I guess you broke it!

A few things are broken but they'll get fixed.

re: Open MIDI File - type 0 extract channels to tracks....

If all tracks are set to audio (as they are now as a default), then that command cannot find any MIDI tracks to work with.

If you set Prefs- Inital Track Type - to MIDI, the extract channels to tracks should work fine.
(After setting the track type - MIDI, do a File-New before tring the command, so that tracks will be MIDI)

We'll correct that in the future, but if you plan on lots of work with MIDI files, and using commands that depend on making other MIDI tracks, it would likely be best to make that setting as Prefs- Inital Track Type - to MIDI

Thanks Peter, that did it. So, it must be done in the preferences window. It is a bit confusing right now because both Rharv and I tried changing the tracks to midi in the tracks view but that didn't work. At least the program isn't broken!
