In fact the melody line isn't used for the subs dialogue but perhaps it would be better if it was. I've nothing against the chord substitution generator its a good tool (and remember if you come up with your own formulas they can be added to the dialogue box), but I've always found the best substitutions come from composing a new bass line against the melody as a guide to choosing the right chords.
