If you have the ability to connect the computer to the FP-4 via MIDI, you could play the 'MIDI out' to the FP-4 then run an audio cable from the FP-4 to the Line In on the computer and record the audio. Otherwise you'll need a softsynth to play (and render) the MIDI to audio. Do this by selecting a blank track, changing the track type to audio (via right-click), then rewind and hit 'record'. This will likely give you the best sound reproduction of your performance since you played it on that keyboard.
If you hit 'Play' in PT do you hear the song play? If so another option is to record what you hear when the song plays. Set your Delta to 'Input Monitor', go to PT and go to Options - Preferences - Audio and select the Delta Input Monitor if available, otherwise select 1/2 input. Again click 'move selected device to top'. Maybe then you can record what you hear as it plays.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

What you need to do is connect the MIDI out of the computer to the MIDI in of the synth (FP-4) Then connect an audio cable from the Line Out of the synth to the Line In of the Delta.
Tell PT to send the MIDI out to the synth by changing 'Options - preferences - MIDI Device' to the Delta so it sends the MIDI to the synth. The synth will then create the actual sound (when you hit play or record). The audio will then be sent back to PT via the audio cable so you can record it.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

Hi Bob,
I did an experiment using my line-in from the line-out. I always used a Sound Canvas Module and recorded using the Line-in. Now I just use the VSC and render to wave. My old recordings seemed to have much more power, punch and a thicker sound. I figured it was my old modules compared to the VCS softsynth.
What I did was use the VCS, then ran the line out to my mixer which I plug into my line-in and I recorded it. I'm using PTPA12. To my surprise, this recording blows the render to wave away. It is so much richer and powerful. I also did it again with the mixer completely flat, no EQ whatever and it sounds so much better. I know it's not as easy as just clicking my mouse, but the difference is amazing. At least on my machine. I'm using a SB X-Fi audio card and an Alexsis Multimix 8 mixer. I also rendered to wave and put them together next to each other in a seperate song. When I switch back and forth between the two, the Line-In tracks sound Huge and the Rendered ones sound small and weaker. Who knew?
I'm thinking I'm going to put my old P4 machine next to my better Music PC and use it just to record the lin-out from the VCS. My 10 year old Pentium4 with a SB Audigy card records perfectly.
It's not much different than when I had my Atari ST and was switching over to Windows. My studio used the Atari and I had my Windows up in our bedroom. I want to use two computers together.
Wayne,
