Greetings,
It seems I can't use BIAB and a separate VST instrument at the same time, this is not a "sharing" issue, the problem is I get extreme pops, clicks and shutters when trying to play my piano. I have tried raising the latency to 512 and even 1028 with no change.
SO...I'm hoping someone can chime in and let me know if the new i5 and i7 machines would be fast enough for me?
I've got 8 GB of system ram, and a 7,200 rpm HD. I'm using Ivory, Pianissimo and Pianoteq VST modeled pianos. The real issue seems to be that I have a AMD 1GHZ processor, and it just can't do the job of running BIAB and a vst at the same time.
Tips? Comments?

I've said this in other posts... I have similar equipment, i7, 8gig ram and a Line 6 UX8. I pretty much thought I had the performance thing nailed. I had issues with popping and such and found that my WiFi card was eating CPU. I disabled that and all my pops went away.

Hi Rick,
Thank you for your post. Yes, I have turned off WiFi, I've also made a ton of tweaks in the startup programs, took indexing off the drive, loaded the "Classic" theme, etc. I still get horrible static and pops. I had heard that the i7 was really great, but I guess you still have to deal with that standard stuff..........

Ed 1 Ghz is not much, is that running XP/Vista/ or Win 7?
8 gigs of ram is nice, but unless you have Vista, or Win 7 64 bit you won't be able to take full advantage of it.
It is time i think to upgrade.
I am running 2 gig of ram on an XP Pro dual core 2700 Ghz machine. It is pretty fast, but the next upgrade will be win 7 64 bit and 8 gigs of ram.
HP Win 11 12 gig ram, Mac mini Sonoma with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2025, Realband, Reaper 7, Harrison Mixbus 9 32c , Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app.

Open device manager and right click your WIFI card... then click DISABLE and see if that helps. Simply turning mine off didn't help. I had to disable it in Windows.

Rob, I actually run BIAB in 32 bit on a dual boot because the VST's seem to work better. BIAB doesn't seem to mind the 4 gig limit on RAM. It does love the extra power of the i7 though  I swear with the 2011.5 version... there is a band in my basement. This new version sounds better than ever! I need a product like this because I don't play well with others!
