The Harmonizer worked fine in 2011.
I upgraded to 2011.5 (build 3).

First time I've tried the harmonizer on 2011.5 (3).

Use Harmony to Chords - blocked off bars 1 - 77 (as in 2011)
Chose vocal track (all consolidated) for Audio Input
Chose track for Audio Output
Clicked "OK"

Yellow Message upper right . . . cannot generate chords on From/Thru settings!!!!! What???????

Opened chord sheet - all chords entered. From/Thru settings selected via REW then hit F7, FFW then hit F8 . . . shows up as Bar 1 to Bar 77.

This worked fine in 2011. Did this half-doz times in 2011.5 (3) No joy! The only thing I haven't done is close RB and reboot.

Could some body give the Harmonizer a try and see what happens???

Thanks - Ian

Here's what I did.
1. Highlighted a portion of the track you want to harmonize
2. open the harmonizer
3.check radio button "Harm to the chords
A. 4 above
4. Top rt:
A. input is the track that is highlighted.
B. Harmony is multiple mono
C. Output track is firdt empty track
5. Click OK
6. The other screen opens
7. click "Generate"

My guess - You have highlited from the first bar until the last. You don't have any information on some bar in between, probably at the beginning. To fix your methodolgy, just right click the track and click 'select all'.

I was able to dupe if I included regions with no data in my selection ...

I tried what you said Bob and couldn't duplicate.

Well, it happened here, and using 'select whole' (on a track that was consolidated) worked. I remember from long ago that the Harmonizer doesn't like when Tracks are either not consolidated, or the selected region contains no data at the beginning. It used to give bad results when there was no data at the end also, not sure if that is still true. Thought my results may help him ...

Bob, John - thanks for the advice last but I went out and didn't get to it.

Here it is Sunday morning and I'm attacking this again with a couple of different SEQs - one which has a Harmony Generated from 2011.
2011 Friendly, we'll call it. So I tried to generate another Harmony track in this "friendly" SEQ using the 2011.5 (3) - NO JOY.

I prefer to use the Classics Track window. Chord Sheet open, with chords from bar 1 to bar 70. I input the From/Thru settings right into the LCD displays. Clicked on track 13 then opened the menu item. NO JOY

(I also did this using the "fancy" track window, track highlighted - NO JOY either.)

Is there a check box you can think of? I've been through everything. (famous last words )

Thanks for the thoughts so far -- anyone prepared to try it through the Classics Track Window???

Just because you have chords in the bars doesn't mean the selected audio track has audio in those bars. Instead of manually setting the from-thru go to the 'fancy' Tracks window, right click the track and 'select whole'. Or if you want to do it from the old window, use the 'Tracks' pulldown menu at top and choose 'select whole' (after selecting the audio track you are generating harmony for). This will highlite the track only where there is data.

Bob - I took the SEQ in question and imported it into PT 2010 (4).

Used the Harmonizer as I normally do, and it worked fine in PT 2010 (4)

So the question is "What is wrong with my version of 2011.5 (3)?

Should I reinstall the 2011.5 upgrade and the rebuilds one at a time?

Ian

I don't think anything is 'wrong' with it. It has just changed a little apparently. Did you ever try the 'select whole' track method?

Bob - About the whole track selection. Closed RB and reopened with same SEQ.

Classics window opened. Went to Mixer window, right clicked on "out" area of Track 13 - long menu opens, selected whole track 13, then clicked on Generate Audio Harmony.

harmonize window opens, I select harmony from chords, click OK, (All Bars have chords.) Bright yellow message appears telling me that it cannot generate chords from From/Thru bar range. No success.

How do I go back to version 2011? Over-write 2011.5 (3) with 2011 (build 4b)??

Success of a sort.

I copied my RB 2011.5 (3) to another drive.

I overwrote 2011.5 (3) with RealBand 2011 Build 4 Update.
Selected whole track 13 and then clicked on Generate Audio Harmony.
The Harmonizer window opened, selected Harmony by Chord, made sure From/Thru was Bar 1 to Bar 70.
Selected Input and Output - clicked OK and BINGO the track Generator window OPENED.

I will play a bit as to length of the vocal passage and bar selection.

Then I'll upgrade to 2011.5 (3) and we'll see if maybe my install of the 2011.5 was bad somehow.

I'll let you all know Monday - thanks for your ideas, my friends.

Me Too !!! Just upgraded on Thursday and created 3 songs. Recorded Primary vocals on Saturday and then hit the buttom to create the harmonies and :-( there was no joy!
Rebooted and tried on some of my older songs without success. It just doesn't work - gives the error message about cant read the chords...I am very bummed.

HP Laptop with windows 7

I have left a message for Tech support - will they actually help me or am I just out of luck? I do really love this product and the new pedal steel solos are wonderful. I WANT TO FINISH MY SONGS!!!

That's good that you alerted tech.
I noticed that this is your first Post - so may I say "welcome" to the forum.

There have been three builds of 2011.5 - if you go support on the nav, you will find your way to the latest Build 3 (if you haven't done it already).

As you read, I went back to 2011 and it worked fine. Once I get a coffee here, I'm going to reinstall 2011.5 and the recent upgrades.

I'll post the results here.

But it's a great program all the same, isn't it.

BTW Bob - I went back to 2011 Build 4 - harmonizer worked fine.

Upgraded to 2011.5 Build 1 - again - the Harmonizer didn't work - added the Build 3 - still doesn't work.
Shouldn't it connect thru BIAB 2011.5 or PT 2010???

Calling Tech.

John - and I can't get it to work any higher than 2011 Build 4b.

Upgrade to 2011.5 Build 1 -3 is a washout. Sent to support via email

Do you know of a specific box maybe I'm not checking.?
